I have a quote request from a new customer, for 250-off for signs which he can write on with permanent marker, but will wipe off. I know the stuff he means, it’s used on farm fields when they have been sprayed with caustic weed-killer, when the chemical & date sprayed is written on, and can be removed but won’t wash off. It’s a 1mm (usually) yellow plastic.

Anyone have a clue what it is I need to ask for? (?)

    Many thanks
    Lorraine

We use a HIPS or Rigid PVC here Lorraine, but I’m confused how a permanent marker will wipe off.. 😮 Its not really permanent then I’d have thought 🙄 🙂 Our farmers use an oil based crayon type writer, which is impervious to water/rain, but can be cleaned of with a spray cleaner.

    Lorraine,
You can Get HIPS from Amari and Robert Horne in Yellow. I think Kuritake Posterman pens (lots of colours) will work, they’re waterproof when dry but can be cleaned off with glass cleaner.

    quote Peter Munday:

    That’s the one Lorraine.

Try these for costings. Use the list for rigid laminate

Thanks for that Dave, that was going to be my next question….

I’ll get on the phone now for a sample. I haven’t used any of these materials, so have no idea how they look.
The customer wants each printed with his colour logo in one corner-is this a job for the screen-printers, or sub out the printing & stick them on myself?

Thanks Shane, Steve and Peter, I’m looking at them all.

If anyone else has any ideas, theyll be welcome!

BTW, if anyone wants to email/PM a quote to supply the whole lot, they are most welcome to!

Traffolyte is a generic name for rigid engraving laminate but when you get your sample, you will find it is (for all intents and purposes) formica!!
