  • what is the durability printing onto clear vinyl with cadet?

    hi,

I have a large sign to do for a karting track.Around the perimeter it has a chequered flag effect.

I use my cadet mainly for banners but was wondering what would the durability be to print the chequered section onto clear vinyl?

Will the black fade (there is no white needed as it would be mounted onto white foamex.

It would save me have to weed out all the cheques if I used cut vinyl?

My worry is that the sun would effect the print and I dont know how long before the printed clear vinyl would fade.

    Hope this makes sense.

    cheers

Why not print on white vinyl? any way its not going to take long to weed if cut, but if you print you could add a fade or some additional interest (shadow)? to the design

a flag will weed in no time, just cut it and forget about the concern of it fading.

printing it onto clear… the clear will show a dirt halo of the flag before long if you use clear… print it on white.

I think the Cadet using Activasol inks is supposed to be good for 3 years depending on exposure to the sun, wear etc.

Print onto white and laminate and it should last a minimum of 3 years.

i could be wrong steven but i think smedia means unlaminated.
if laminated then hell yeh… print and laminate it and stick it on. laminated print will outlast foamex any day :lol1:

printing black on clear vinyls not a good idea, it wont look right, and will weather without lamination, especially all the fumes and dirt from the track/karts.

Do it in foamex and black vinyl! must easier!

If you’re concerned at the size of your artwork, why not use the good ole repeat function in your vinyl cutting software!! easy to make chequered flags that way!

Id be happy to quote you the sign if you’re concerned or scared at weeding that big 😛
