Gerber GS15 Cutter
Posted by Jason Bagladi on 6 March 2007 at 10:00I cut a few materials which require cutting twice due to their thickness. Is there an easy way of doing a double cut without having to line up the registration mark again?
I have to cutter force on max!Karl Williams replied 18 years, 7 months ago 7 Members · 14 Replies -

I have a Graphtec plotter which I run using Flexisign. In Flexi Production Managers advanced settings you have the option on the number of passes/cuts the blade makes, check your software for something similar. When I cut reflective I adjust the number of passes too 2 and it cuts the same job twice so is kinder to your blade.

You could just duplicate the job on top of itself, then it will make 2 passes even if you have to make the duplicate another colour and cut all colours, this should work with any software.

I would go with peters suggestion. Also slow the speed down to ensure the vinyl doesn’t move.

Cut a thick job the other day with duplicate on top of
original before sending to plotter-cut no problem -
Thanks for the help guys. Will give it a try.
Using Gerbers Omega software.

Thanks for that Karl!!! To be honest, it does everything I need it for. I can also import stuff from CorelDraw easily enough too.

Try this… go to gspplot > setup > Device Select > GSX and tick the box Double Cut.

Get in touch with Edward Mathias & Co. on 0151 728 7221.
They do a blade holder for the GS15 as well as most other plotters that is fully adjustable to cut even the thickest of vinyl in one pass. Plus the dull blades can be posted back to them and they re-sharpen them. In the meantime they send you back the replacements. I always have ten blades and when I put the ninth blade in, I post them the others back for re-sharpening. Really cost effective and they cut brilliantly.

Being self taught never noticed the double cut in plotter screen 😳
