    Hi all.

This problem occurred on Saturday. I was cutting a job that when I came to weed, discovered that the last part of it hadn’t cut deep enough.

Since then, all jobs are the same. You can clearly see the cut marks but they are nowhere near deep enough to weed. Oddly you can see powdered residue of the vinyl on the blade.

If I physically wind the blade down deeper and set the pressure very high (max setting on the plotter) then the blade cuts right through the vinyl and backing paper and everything gets ‘chewed up’.

Adjust it up again with less pressure and it goes straight back to not cutting.

I’ve tried resetting, different blades & vinyl and reinstalling the firmware and software but nothing 🙁

Any help or ideas greatly appreciated.

    Kenny

What sort of condition is the cutting strip in? If the cutting strip is worn and needs replacing then this could easily be your problem if you have already tried different blades.

Thanks Martin. The cutting strip was replaced not so long ago and is a lot newer than the last one I had in. It’s the fact that it stopped halfway through a job and hasn’t been right since that confuses me. I’m wondering if it’s in the cutting head

What about the blade holder? does it seem secure and does it move up and down freely?

Yep all seems fine. The actual pen holder was replaced not so long ago as the bearings went in it. Seems to ‘pounce’ freely too.
