Advice PleasePosted by Gary Birch on 15 February 2007 at 12:05Hi all
I have a lightbox panel I need to print some graphics for. Now would I be better printing onto a translucent vinyl and mounting onto a clear panel or printing onto a clear vinyl and mounting on an opal panel. Or does it make any difference at all. Thanks in advance. Gary Chris Wool replied 18 years, 8 months ago 5 Members · 7 Replies

I believe there is a special back lit white vinyl for this application.

yeah there is but if there is no benefit to using it i can just use the clear vinyl I have in stock on an opal panel. Saves on stocking a different vinyl you see. I just wondered if there was any benefit to using the backlit vinyl. Cheers Gary

quote Dave n Rob Lowery:I believe there is a special back lit white vinyl for this application.the back lit white vinyl will give a better colour image, the clear over opal will be washed out because the white point will be lower.

I’ve never used the back lit….but is it dense enough to diffuse the light enough so you wouldn’t see the tubes? I guess it would be no use if it didn’t but just thought I would ask

only done a few but i print on to white not grey backed fitted to white opel sheet laminate if you want to. more than satisfactory results. the real material may be just a little more vibrant. chris
