Hi all, Pretty new to the forum. I have just purchased a roland pc600 for my own stickers, decals, graphics. I have set everything up as said and is all connected to my pc and flexi sign with no problems, On trying my first print i found the lettering to be split, As in the bottom half of the lettering was above the top half, Thinking that it must be my settings iv checked everything and cannot find anything wrong. I then did a self test print on the machine itself with it disconnected from the computer, This also does not work correct, The COLOUR CAM PRO in colour is okay, But again the small writing below is again split with the top half where it should be and the bottom half above the COLOUR CAM PRO lettering, Also below where the specifications should be is all scrambled, Its all printed into each other and cannot make out what any of it says. With no settings comming from the computer i can only think their must be a problem with the machine, I have seen prints from the machine previously and their was no problems, I can only think it has been damaged in transit to me, Can anyone help or have any suggestions, Or give details of a service engineer close to wolverhampton in the midlands. Any help would be much appreciated.

Also does any one have a service manual ??

    Thanks in Advance
    Mark

It’s a while since I had my PC600 so I really can not be sure but your manual should be able to tell you if there are some transit screws or fixings that need to be removed before the printer is used.

From what you have described the problem is internal (i.e with the printer itself) since this also happens on a self test. It seems to me that some sort of transit restraining mechanism (designed to limit movement of the head when in transit) may explain the machines reluctance to print in a continuous way but to go back to start again.

    Thanks for the reply Phill

There doesnt seem to be anything, The printhead is moving freely with no obstructions, i have contacted the guy i have purchased from and he cant think of any reason why this is happening either.

The only other things I can suggest are to set the "base point" before you start to print – this will ensure the printer starts off from the point at which you wish it to start and will not wind the vinyl forward to an undetermined point before starting to print. Also check that the back sensor is covered at all times during the print.

What happens when the cartridges change? does it wind back to the start properly when it begins the next colour cycle?

been thinking on this one for a bit now.

    possible

vinyl to small for the test print or pinch rollers in to far. or vinyl slipping cos pinch rollers not on vinyl .

i think the 600 uses encoder strips which could be dirty sending the head to a different part of the vinyl to carry on from.

if you move the head by hand you should switch off at the main switch a restart the machine.

probably all a load of rubbish

    Thanks for replies guys,

i have used a good sized vinyl Roughly 12"X 40", roughly half size of cutting area, so covers sensors fully, Made sure the pincher’s are in correct positions and on the vinyl fully, Set the base point to the middle of the vinyl and tried but still same thing, I will have a look at cleaning encoder strips, I’m just looking at doing a system report, Is it down arrow as turn sub power on and same steps as a self test for print, See what this produces and if this can tell me anything. i Think iv covered all the basics so looking like may need to get a professional in to have a look at it.

    Thanks
    Guys

The problem is with the pinch rollers not moving when in print mode, These are working 100% when in cutter mode but as soon as changed to printing, it does not move at all, This is creating the problems with lettering overlapping, Being on top of each other ect.

now that you said about the different movements of the rollers there is a mechanism that connects when in cutter mode on the 600 i dont know exactly but it has been on the boards before.
