    Hi everyone,

I have just installed SignLab E6 and am trying to get my Mutoh cutter to work. I have read the help files in SignLab and tried everything. I cant seem to get the computer to respond when I click on the Plotter Default button.

Does anyone have any idea what I might be doing wrong……it’s driving me nuts!! 😕

I presume you have installed the plotter?

This is the problem, I am completely new to all this. I have connected the Mutoh to the computer and uploaded the software ( I thought it would detect the cutter when uploading but it didn’t). I have tried various thing suggested by the help manual but nothing has worked as yet.

I will try and change the default setting on the Mutoh and see if that works.

It’s getting late in the day and I see you’re frustrated because this obstacle is preventing you from proceeding to more productive matters. I can perhaps provide aid through this forum thread, though more information would be a benefit. Others would like to understand your setup as well.

    • When choosing Cut menu >> Plotting Defaults, the Plot dialog should open, and the installed device drivers will be listed.
    • From your description, you are choosing Cut menu >> Plotting Defaults, and no Plot dialog is opening. Does anything else happen?
    • Can you clarify whether you are using SignLab e6, or e61? This can be done by doing Help menu >> About SignLab.
    • Are you upgrading from a previous SignLab, or did you acquire your SignLab through a previously owned kit?
    • When SignLab was installed, there was a driver installation step. Did you choose your Mutoh at that point? What model of cutter are you using?

Let me know. If you can toss me a PM with your dongle number, then that will help me to understand your configuration and product history.

    Cheers,

I think Peter is refering to installing the plotter driver in Signlab. Under file – intall – drivers – choose your cutter model and then follow the instructions.

    Hi again,

I bought the Cutter along with computer and software from e-bay and now I know what the Dongle is I guess I should try and get it from the seller!!

I have a feeling it is a problem with the disk, I have seen other forum conversations regarding bad disks and it sounds like that is the problem.

Absolutely nothing happens when I select Plotter Default except the program freezes.
I can’t even open the install drivers folder, it just opens a black box and immediately closes down again.

The Mutoh works fine on a test run that doesnt need a computer so I dont think that’s the problem, just need to get some good software.

Guess you take that risk with e-bay!

Marie, it sounds like you bought a fake copy, doubt if you will get the dongle.
Genuine versions of signlab rarely come up for sale, normally people upgrade. I dont know your circumstances, but if you are serious about signs you really need reliable software with the backup available.
for cut vinyl, there are basic programmes around some stand alone, some as a plug in for drawing programs. if you cant stretch to signlab just yet buy one of the cheaper ones untill you can afford signlab, or flexi etc

    Hi Marie,

    • Thanks for providing more information to help identify the cause of your issue.
    • The eBay seller should have provided a security dongle with the package, otherwise you will not be able to use the product.
You will need to query the eBay seller immediately to obtain the dongle.
    • If the seller is not forthcoming in a timely fashion, then you will need to follow-up by using eBay reporting mechanism for failure to deliver goods.
    • If it turns out that you needed to apply the eBay reporting mechanism, then would you please contact the CADlink UK office and provide them with details concerning this matter for our records.

However, I will trust that this was an honest mistake, and that you will receive your product.

    Regards,

    Hi Rod,

I will get on to it tomorrow though I am sure it is an honest mistake, they have been very helpful with our queries so far and the disk looks genuine. I will let you know how it goes.

    Thanks
