    Hi everyone,

I need to order some application tape today. I would like to get both paper and clear. My questions are:

    What is a good brand?

What sort of pricing am I looking at?

I need to go on the reasonable price level, because I’m not actually starting up properly until I’ve been made redundant, so I’m using my normal current account. In other words, I’m a bit skint! I’m trying to save so I can manage when they do make me redundant in the next couple of months. (I think they’re trying to wear me down so I leave of my own accord and they don’t have to pay me off!) I don’t mind buying a full log of each type as I will have them chopped down into handy widths.

Hopefully someone will be able to advise me!

    Regards
    Adam

I use a brand called ‘conform’ which works really well for me, Its just like masking tape. I had a log of the cheaper stuff, and I found the adhesive too sticky.

Also If you get hold of a two pack of letter openers from staples (£1.99 IIRC), they are excellent when cutting the application tape from the roll.

See if you can stretch to the better quality of vinyls also, do that as it is easier to work with and the glues are better.

Thanks for the reply. I’ve not heard of conform! I last used a tape from Grafityp, but it seems to tear itself apart! If I pull a piece off it tears the surface from underneath where you are pealing. I’ve managed to get by but it was annoying!

I already use Oracal 751c, 651 and 551 which I’d class as a good vinyl. I’ve not tried very many other makes though….so I can’t make a good comparison.

I get mine from a vinyl supplier in Nottingham. Try the search on here, or the search engines.

Not to sure about the rules on posting links here though.

NB I am using LG chem stuff now, was using intercoat which by comparison is poor

Been buying from William Smith – their P200 Ritrama hi-tack paper tape is pretty good.

It’s not the "best money can buy", but a VERY good tape for the price.
