Convert OpenType Font into Omega/Composer
Help!
I am having a nightmare with this particular font!
I have purchased the font as an OpenType Font but I am now struggling to convert it so that my Software (Omega only uses .gsf fonts) can use it.
Is there anyone out there that has hit this problem before……if so can you offer a few suggestions please.Cheers

Does it not work with the font converter?

No unfortunately it doesn’t, I tried using the Converter but that only recognises TrueType Fonts rather than OpenType!!!
Am I making any sense?? 😕

I would email the company from which I bought the font that you are having trouble installing.
Perhaps they have tech support.
I never have problems getting fonts into my GA 6.2 font converter….yet!
I’m still on damn WIN98SE! I know that Letterhead Fonts no longer supports that system. But I think if I emailed them that they would help me.
I always use the font converter after I have installed the font into Windows fonts.

Have you tried using it in the small text entry and then converting to shape?

Will Omega see it as small text? you need to install it in windows font folder to see if that works.

To Jillbeans – I have got in touch with the software company and am waiting to hear from them – thanks for this.
To Dave n Rob – I have just tried that…….but that also changes the font to the bold version of it! Worth a shot though thanks! 😀
To Nick – The font has been installed into the Windows Font Folder – this is why I am truly stumped!

If it gets you out of a hole, do a minus outline to get the strength of character you need.

I’ve just had to buy FS Albert bold italic. If that’s the version you need I would be happy to type out any text you want, and email you the outlines, if it helps you out of a hole until you can get it working.

Do you have anything else you can use it in? and then convert to curves then save it as an EPS/IE then import to Omega?
If you are stuck then post the font and someone will do it for you .

there are similar fonts if you dont have to be precise

Yeah I could have a go at that – BUT this is the new corporate font and I will be needing to use this all day everyday – which is why I am in such a pickle and need to get the ‘actual’ font sorted if possible! Thanks anyway.

I was thinking about this pickle….
and I checked out the Letterhead Fonts site.
(I had thought that’s what you had purchased)
I was pleased to read that they do provide a "gerber" version of all their fonts!
Sorta like back when one had to purchase individual fonts for the 4B.
Now that I see the name of your font, I keep thinking of that old Admiral Halsey song…
"We’re so sorry, Uncle Albert"

Hi,
Someone mentioned Crossfont (free 15 day evaluation software) on the site here before – I used it to convert a Mac font to PC font. It also converts other formats. Not sure it would work, but perhaps you could download Crossfont, and see if it would convert the OpenType to TrueType, and you could then use the Converter referred to above.
Worth a try?

Had a thought last night, with the gerber software you should have font designer. Inline each character of the font for the correct strength then save each one into one file then use font designer to make up your own true type font. When this is done you could then go to ttf convertor with no problems. Long winded I know but when your in a hole 🙄

what you need to do, is type your text
in illustrator using the open font, then send
the outlines over to composer -

Don’t know Jayne.
I bought my copy from Fontsmith and they sell it as either Postscript (Mac only) or OpenType (Mac & PC)
Their compatibility blurb is here…..
