I’ve got a customer that imports machines, she wants to replace the control panels on them. They are touch button controls with ‘bubbles’ over the buttons, just like you’ve got on your plotters I should imagine, certainly are on mine!

    1. because she wants to brand the machines as hers and

    2. because the machines have more buttons and features than she requires so wants to blank out the unused ones to simplify operation.

I know nothing about this kind of production so I’m wondering what process would be used to make them and can anyone recommend someone that can manufacture these for me?

You can revese print onto LEX on a GERBER EDGE. You will not get the bubble effect though, but it will work fine.

Apply double sided tape over the print (on the reverse side !) before cutting out on a Gerber plotter gives a great finished result. And because the print is subsurface they are very long lasting.

We use this method to produce dash board switch panels for various bus and coach manufacturers

thanks, I’ve got access to an edge from the guy down the road, but ideally I still want the blistered buttons if I can get them!

Do you mean the plastic membrane, like you get under keyboards, and most certainly (memory lane moment) the zx81?

I’ve got the details of a company that does that sort of thing at work – will have a look.

They do precision printing in normal, metallic conductive and electroluminescent inks mainly onto membrane materials. Had them do some screen printing for me before…but they specialise in control panels membranes.
