Hello to all I’m new to the site.
I’ve recently purchase my first printer. A mutoh falcon outdoor jr.
It seem very capable accept for printing on clear film. The software (flexi)
came with many icc profiles. But none for clear. I have tried altering them and downloaded some off suppliers web sights but the result are not great.
My suppliers have been no help. Does anyone have a good icc profile for printing on an Avery, Mactac, or 3m clear that does not run or print too lightly?

well, clear is a funny one because I tend to now print with the white profile, I have this opinion that the white point of clear vinyl is what item you put it on, so if you place the clear on a white van then all the other colours would adjust slightly due to the white on the van. When clear prints out of a digital printer people look at the backing paper white for guidance, not sure if thats the right thing to do. Be interesting to hear from others on the clear vinyl profile choosing.

    Thank you,
I use the printed clear to add special effects to glass trophies etc.
I guess its a pretty rare requirement. Which probably explains the lack of data.

ok.. so i dont think you need to worry, with lack of white you just got a very transparent looking print

    Hiya…Welcome to the boards…

I usually run the clear through twice to get a nice crisp print…Looks great!

Do you use the printer marks Lee, to line it up for the second run?

I thought doing a double ink print may be the answer. I don’t get much call for it, so I have not really experimented much yet. I’d be interested in others comments too.

Nahhh Shane, I set it up in the rip.

In Versaworks there is an option to over print up to 3 times. So what it does is to run the normal drop, then another, and then another again, before moving to the next part of the print. It takes a bit longer to print, and needs a dryer to make it easier, but I get great results on all sort of stuff.

We were unable to find any profiles for clear as well so we had to create our own using the MonacoPROFILER. It took some time and patience, some wasted material but we got it down to a very acceptable product by all means.
