Opinions on Font: Geometr 885 BT
Hi Guys & Gals
Just wanted opinions on this font for Vinyl cutting, I know every letter needs to be weeded but at least they are big pieces and not the small pieces from inside e’s and a’s etc etc etc….
It will be used for all different point sizes as it will be a company identity font.
What do you think?

Hi Warren, if as you say it is all going to be different sizes how will that out line work at say 10mm it’s going to be very fine 🙄 just a thought.

Good point Lynn, I suppose it is going to be very difficult to weed inside and outside if the line is too thin.
What would be the minimum line weight you would go to?

Warren, rather than ask others what the minimum line thickness they would go to would be I would try the text at a few small text heights myself as different people have different abilities when weeding and only you know just how good you are. Plus your choice of vinyl is going to make a difference as well, as I am sure you know different makes of vinyl weed differently. You could always try adding an inline or outline to thicken up the stroke of the letters but if you add an outline dont forget to open up the kerning a little before you apply to stop the letters running into each other.

That font is difficult to read.
Which is more important, legibility or "hipness"?

Jill I didn’t find it difficult to read at all, it wouldn’t be my choice of font for myself. It is a very good point you make though, if you had trouble reading it then there is a good chance a lot of other people will to.
