SOT is a good magazine but deals a lot with big LED signs and stuff like that. I’ve gotten it for years, and even been in it an odd time or two.
They support the Letterhead movement and the magazine has been in print for 100 years!
Another magazine you might find helpful is SignCraft.

They also give you a free pricing guide with a subscription.
Whatever you do, get a copy of Mastering Layout by Mike Stevens.
If you are new to the trade it is important to hone your design skills so you can stand out from the crowd.
