You need to set the "Base point" on your cutter – There should be a button on the machine that you press when you have set the vinyl to the position you wish to start at.
-
Lee, when you measured the vinyl (press the roll 1 button) when loaded. did the blade return to the bottom right corner?
You also have an option in the plotter set up to start in the middle of the media, or at the bottom left or right.Peter

The blade does return to the right
Do i line the vinyl to left side of cutter?
Where does it normaly cut if you want to do a word say 6" long when you look at front of the cutter should it cut it on the right side where the blade starts.
Peter do you know where i find the thing to change the position
cheers

Lee,
I dont use or have the corel cut plug in, so cant really help, I checked my disc from graphtec, but its not on there, Im sure someone will pop up with an answer, Edit..
I have just installed the windows driver, and if you go to printer properties there is an option to tell the plotter where to start, its in the corel print set up, not the graphtec bit if that makes sense,

I tried to cut it from the Robo master software that came with the cutter.
They said i can cut from coreldraw
Does anyone know how this is done?
-
i think you said you were using corel draw or something similar to do your designs and using this to send to the cutter? i know this can be done as quite a few people on here do the same but i would advise getting a dedicated dedicated software package for designing and cutting vinyl signlab/flexisign/vinyl master pro etc mainly because once you have done your design and send it to the cut file you can position you gfx wherever you want to cut it on the vinyl so no wasted vinyl, also why not put the pen in instead of the blade and use paper so no wasted vinyl while you are getting the hang of the software and the cutter, i still use now rolls of old wallpaper if im checking out designs and when my daughter wants to play around with the cutter so no wasted vinyl 😉 software wise you can download a demo of signlab but im not sure if it will allow you to cut from the demo, vinyl master pro is very good and the demo is a fully working demo so you can cut from it , i was sent the vmp demo disc last year but cannot remember who sent it to me just ask and im sure some1 will send you a copy, you then have the best of both worlds corel draw etc + vinyl software. 😀

I ran my Graphtec from Coreldraw for a while. I installed it as a printer and then just set a custom page size (in the printer driver) the same size as the vinyl. Then just use the ‘Print’ command. I’m not familiar with this Robo thing you’re using. There must be a simple way of getting it to cut where you want it…… 😕

I just installed the software how it explained in the manual. will have to have a better look at it tomorrow.

You need to get yourself a copy of Flexisign. You can buy it off ebay just now for a tenner 😕

just checked print in coreldraw and cutter is installed in there already.thanks Andy.

Good, you may get confused with portrait/landscape settings when you first use it. I know I did. Just experiment a bit. What plotter did you get in the end? If it’s a Graphtec, don’t panic if the cutting quality is a bit iffy when outputting to it as a printer. I had that problem and found it was a Corel issue.
-
Yes i got the Graphtec ce5000 610 . really please seems like a good quality cutter. Just feel better once i’ve got the hang of things, Only been on it for about a hour or so.

They are great machines Lee, and you have the peace of mind that Graphtec’s customer support is excellent. I expect your house to have bits of vinyl stuck all over it by the end of this weekend, as well as all the cars of anyone you know! 🙂

No you cant Phil. I bought all his stock, price has now gone up to 20 squibs+vat 😉

have you got corel to use the plotter when you send data to be cut?(may be sending it to you printer) check settings, also is the language set corretly ie:hpgl ! i had similar prob after i formated pc makes a sound for a second or so then nothing, also check the digital readout on the plotter may come up with the error.
-
Where is the language thing?
I got it cut somethings but not others.
-
i just change the condition it says it should be 2 so i put it on that and it changed back to 9 .
The istructions are crap quess i’ll have to ring the suppliers on Monday get some help.

If, when you send something to the plotter it just makes a noise but doesn’t cut, you should try swapping the language to the other option (gpgl or hpgl). This is in the menu on the plotter itself. I had exactly the same problem and that was the answer. On the other hand, I can’t understand why it would cut some things but not others.

I don’t use our Graphtec much these days but are your pinch rollers correctly positioned??
-
Hi Andy
I spoke to Peter earlier and i think we have sorted , mainly page size, convert to curves, and hairline.
thanks to everyone for all the help.
thanks again to Peter.
cheers
Lee -
Glad you’re all sorted Lee. I look forward to seeing your first jobs.
-
Lee, I’m having the same problem as you. What did you do exactly at the end?
Mine cuts from the robomaster software if the job is small, if the job is a big one then a 1/3 of the way through the cutter just flies off in a load of directions and ruins about a metre of vinyl. In corel it doesnt do anything.
I’ve tried loads of different setting to no avail.

Thanks for the help Lee, I dont have the rights to send a Personal Message back so have to thank you here, I’ll give it a go tonight when I’m back home.
