Vehicle graphics – Chevette Castrol Rally car
Posted by Kenny Ramsey on 29 November 2006 at 11:22Done this rally car yesterday. The painter is the brother of a well known local rally driver so I’m hopeful of more work from it 😀
Took longer than I thought designing and cutting, about 4.5 – 5 hrs.
Fitting took 3.5 hours which I was happy with.
All in all quite an enjoyable job 😀
Thanks

Good Job. I’d have thought 4.5 hours for one man would have been on the money myself 😕
Interesting that Castrol are sponsors there. Here they have pretty well pulled out of sponsorships for a while.

Thanks Shane. I may be being too critical. It’s only the second rally car I’ve done so I suppose I’m just getting an idea for the time involved. The cut went pretty quickly, it’s just the design stage felt too long.
They are only replicating the graphics from the original rally car. Castrol aren’t involved financially 😀

A good rule of thumb when doing this sort of stuff, from a one man band point of view, is that the designing should be about 1/3 the time of the job.
So working on the whole job taking 9 hours, if it took 3 hours for the design, you were probably doing OK.
Well done again

Sorry Nick, I should clarify my comment a bit better. Here they had their own 2 Car Holden Racing team in the V8 Supercars (Larry Perkins) and a Ford (Tony Longhurst), I think they’ve dropped their Drag Racing sponsorship too.
They have small stickers on team cars that use Castrol, but they no longer own teams like before.

Ok Shane understand, they do give money as well to the team.
Nick.
