Most of the time they will gladly help you out if you explain the situation right. I usually use the "My client wants to promote your products in their store windows and they have a less than acceptable logo to go off of, and in order to ensure the highest quality of work" …. etc etc.

I knocked this up for a job last week from a business card, not exact but near enough for on a car i would think.Cheers

Thanks for that. I think the design work is now done. I’ve done a couple for the client but If someone can take a look at this design. If this is something they will go for, I was going to charge something in the region of £300. Do you think that is enough? It’s just that there’s a hell of a lot of time and weeding involved. I know the jpeg isn’t that clear, but it gives you an idea.

Is that what they want Mark?
Looks a bit untidy to me in truth. But customers are always right as they say.
I have no idea what to charge tho sorry. Probably $au350 here I suppose. The client will not think the weeding will be a problem, so its one of those jobs that if you try and cover your labour costs, and the customer does not see the value, they’ll baulk at the price.
