  Perspex or poly carb – best to use?

  Hi

  Got a sign to do, 1.5m x 1m.

  Gonna be raised off a wood panel with spacers by about 25mm.

  Do I go for perspex or 5mm polycarb ?

  Hope this makes sense !!

  Extruded perspex is fine , there is no call for polycarb unless you need it to be somewhat vandal and impact resistant

  Go for perspex (acrylic) – if you go for cast (not that much dearer) it drills & polishes much easier.

  Also more scratch resistant than polycarb.

  is it a clear panel on metal locators?

  why not use laminate or toughend glass? finish is always better i think…

  Thanks Guys !!

  Glass sounds good as we have a glass shop on the same estate.

  Any issues with safety having it about 2m of the ground ?

  Also, any suppliers of the perspexs ?

  I have tried europoint, but no luck …

  Perspex have an arm that seems to sell to the trade rather than wholesalers. We have used them for a few bits.

  At that size I would agree with Robert and use toughened glass mounted on Fairfield 25mm stand-off locators.

  8mm thick glass should do the trick, may be more expensive than acrylic, and there are the advantages of no static and it’s more scratch resistant.
