    Hi
Ive tried ,without much success, to lay a frosted window graphic but the inside of the lettering, ie the innner part of an o etc, decided to stay on the application tape! I did this dry unsuccessfully !! Since i am new to this – should i be applying it wet or dry and what type of application tape should i be using , high tak or medium? Any advice would help me lossing my hair!!!!

    Mart,
I personally would do it wet, using a high tack paper.

Do it the way its easier for you. Some people would say its quicker to apply vinyl dry. Its only quicker if your experienced. Practice at home or in the workshop….not on the job.

I always apply frosted wet. It takes very little time for it to dry on the window and you only do it once !

    Chill out and try again.

    Regards,
    Cheryl 😀

    Hi Mart
Are you trying to lay a solid piece of etch film with the letters clear cut into it? If you are, I would definately lay it wet, and leave the application tape on it for a while.before you attempt to remove it. That will give the small infill pieces of the text time to dry. We generally use high tack paper as it makes removing the image off the backing paper a bit easier.

    Mart,
I also sometimes leave the weeding of small letters or graphics until the vinyl is on the window.

With fiddly bits that might get lost on the app paper, it ensures that everything is applied.

Weed the next lot on the window if it makes it easier.

    Cheers,
    Cheryl 😀

and wet the application tape down once applied with soapy water if u do it wet. softens up the paper and makes it easier to remove.

i only ever lay frost wet when its floodcoating the whole window or with very minimal text cut out of the vinyl. but most of the time its dry if its just lines of text or suchlike. i just really detest the way it pulls the vinyl back up when u try and remove the application tape
