  • Which App to tile ?

Posted by NICK BOSTON on 10 October 2006 at 11:11

    Hi all.

I use Posterworks for all my tiling, its probably the best application going for custom tiles and pop ups etc.

    BUT

It is only available to run in classic on osx, which causes a big problem for anyone wanting to upgrade to osx without classic.

So what other options are available for tiling panels for print ??

Personally i dont like the tiling system in onyx, and pdfs are ok for single pages.

    All help muchly appreciated.

Posterworks is a computer program used for tiling panels eg. 48 sheet posters, pop up stands etc.

It is used for creating the panels so tiling on the rip is not nessary.

If you use it you will know what i am on about, re. the above post.

Is that english enough ? 😉

    • I follow what you are saying. Your English is okay.
    • If I understand correctly, you are upgrading your Apple hardware, and you also intend to upgrade to Mac OSX.
    • However, the Posterworks application (www.posterworks.com) is not supported as a native OSX application, and must instead be run as a "classic" Mac application.
    • Does this mean that Posterwork group are no longer continuing Mac development, or do they expect a new version of Posterworks for Mac to be released?
    • If you are getting a new system with OSX, then would it be worthwhile to obtain Boot Camp (www.apple.com/macosx/bootcamp/) and then purchase Posterworks for Windows?
    • As an alternative, I am sure there are other Mac users on here that can recommend good tiling applications.

    Yes you are correct.

I hope my english is ok, i was born in london lol.

Yes i have upgraded to osx, but currently use posterworks under classic os.

I have contacted the makers of posterworks and they say there is no plans for a native osx version of posterworks.

We cannot all run classic for ever as the new intel macs cannot run classic at all.

So how does everyone else tile jobs ??

I like the idea of the bootcamp thing, will look into it.
