weeding what is the easiest way to do it?

OK here we go my first need for help.
wot the easiest way of weeding ?
in my test cuts when i start to peel it back the design comes up n have to tug at it to free from the waste vinyl, n sometimes sticks to the waste . :no1:

you need to set your force a bit higher try one higher at a time but before you do that make sure your blade is correct 😀 what plotter are you using

Rob don’t know what a redsail is but yes pressure, and also what vinyl are you using ?

Hi Rob, I have a 30′ Redsail cutter & for normal vinyl I use about 100-150gr of force/pressure. Could the problem be that you have to have more pressure because the blade isnt cutting through the vinyl?

you need to check the blade is set to cut just the vinyl no the backing paper, just upping the pressure wont work if the blade is set to the correct depth.

funny you mention that nick, my blades are Roland with offset of 0.25mm but in my settings on computer the offset is set at 10 (doesn’t say mm or owt) could this be the difference?

as for pressure currently set at 100g n seems to cut fine but when weeding i have to tug a little n think this its normal for weeding, but if i up to 110g then it starts to slice the backing paper n mess things up big time.

i know i will laugh at this in a few months but we all started as beginners at some point. :thanks2:

If the offset is wrong it will cause the shape not to be completely cut, and make weeding difficult. the blade should be only just protruding from the holder, and make sure it can spin freely like a castor.

Dont know the red sail but some plotters need the offset to be set at the machine.

If you cut a small square say 100mm x 100mm the corners should be nice and square, if they are then the off set is ok.

yeah i did that nick n all seems OK …
my blade is just popping out n is free to rotate, so as 100gm was not enough I’ve upped to 110gm n seems OK (weeding wise). cheers
