Just had the new vehicle and graphics CD sent to me but Coreldraw 12 wont open the files.
It simply comes up with a grey blank saying Corel 10.

Surely later versions would be able to open the file, especially as the new disc has been created after the newer versions have been on the market for a while?

Ryan I just tried mine and they open in corel 13, I just dragged and dropped the AI file (you do need to import rather than open I believe)

when you go File / Open and with Options button is expanded, click to highlight the file and the version it was created in will appear in the bottom right hand corner.

It sounds like you are importing the eps version, but not selecting ‘Placeable EPS’ as the filter.

The eps files also just drag n drop, without the placeable being ticked..

Tried using the ‘open with’ button, import into corel, cut and pasting…all come up with the blank coreldraw 10 rectangle?

would help if Impact picked up the phone.

Whenever I try and import an .eps file into Corel I always get a grey rectangle just as you have described, but if instead I do a file open (instead of an import) then I doget the vector file. Don’t know if that helps any?

I think that they are both corrupted discs.

On one of my computers it wont even recognise the disc, and the other it will either open them as grey blanks or partial information.

If you get a grey square in Corel this normally indicates a placed eps which has no preview, use the postscript interpreted filter for editable eps files. This applies with Draw versions upto and including V12 – x3 has 1 filter with an option to import as placed or editable.

The first thing I would do is to have a word with Brian Hays. 😀

Ryan, sorry have been out all day today. I have replied to your email.

We produce both manuals with Corel 12, also all the Ai & EPS files are now exported from version 12. Although some of the older vehicles will have been exported from previous versions.

EPS is the best to use as they are full size. As suggested when you go to import there is a box marked "Files of type" You need to select the "PS, PRN, EPS Postrict Interpreted" option. This is set to "All files" if you havn’t ever changed it.

As for the disks they are now on DVD because if we still used cd’s the vehicle library would need to be split over 3 disks. Do your pc’s both have DVD drives?
