‘what the font’ doesn’t want to know!
Posted by Lorraine Clinch on 5 September 2006 at 09:49And neither does Identifont-does anyone here have any idea on either/both of these fonts please?
My eyes are (oogle) from staring at the screen. 😥Lorraine Clinch replied 19 years, 3 months ago 6 Members · 12 Replies -

Can’t place top one Lorraine, looks familiar easily made up though if it’s just those words you need.
Bottom at quick glance has to be some Helvetica, poss black condensed.
Just been stretched up a tad.

Try doing a negative image of the top one, and taking out the underline.
You can do it in almost any photo editing program.

Martin cheers you were bang on with that :thanks2: Strangely enough, none of the Helvetica’s on my comp. were installed-now rectified!
Jill – I can feel another learning curve coming on……I’m off to play with Photoshop now 😕

OK, I’m now about to prove how brainless I really am…..
Jill, please can you take me through how to do what you said? I’ve tried PS and Signlab, but am aimlessly pressing buttons for the sake of it now, just to see what they do. (Can you tell I don’t do much photo editing?)
Sorry, I know you are busy at the mo.

can u not just trace it in signlab and delete the background? and re-colour the font 😕

Lorraine, can’t help in photo shop, but in Corel you click on the jpg and ‘invert’ the image.
Hope that helps

quote Nicola Rowlands:can u not just trace it in signlab and delete the background? and re-colour the font 😕

Hi Nik, I’ve traced it countless times, but the resolution is so poor that I may as well just re-draw the whole lot (which I have now started to do). I hate these silly jobs, this is going to wind up costing me more than I’m charging-in fact it already is 😳 👿

Here’s a REALLY easy way.
You can do this in Paint (that windows program)
Use the brush tool to get rid of the line and the doo-hickey on the left.
Then invert the colors.
Clean up as needed with the eraser tool.
Then save as a monochrome bitmap.
Sometimes this screws things up.
Then save as a .jpeg

Hi Nick, I’ll try from there, but may be too far from the real thing.
Jill-I got there, but still too messy to use…I may well tell the young lad that I can’t help (shame coz I’ve already recreated the flag,)
If anyone can come up with a font name I’d be most grateful (I’ll buy you a beer at Sign UK next year!!!)
Hmmmm….if I carry on I shall owe half the memberson here a beer!

I went to dafont.com and selected sans serif from their menu.
You can type in any text.
There were a few that were close to "Buddy".

Aha! Thanks Jill, I never knew I could do this, excellent. It’s all made now, managed to find a similar font, added an outline & edited the shapes a bit, sorted! Customers coming in today, so I have something to show now.
Thanks again,
Lorraine 😛
