    Hi

I have a Canon W8200pg printer and my yellow tank has ran out.

I ordered a new one and i have just found out its for the Canon W8400pg

This tank will fit if i cut some plastic tabs off, the company i bought from have said that the ink is different as it has a different gamut. She said i may experience slight colour/shade changes but these are not a problem.

What she could not tell me is if the w8400 ink is a totally different substance from my usual w8200 ink, and if it would damage the printer in any way.

    Anyone got any advice?

i will try it unless someone can confirm it will be ok, not going to give it a whirl to see wwhat happens.

here is a picture of the tabs that can be cut off quite easily with a craft knife.

the tank on the left is fits and the one on the right needs 2 tabs cutting

Unless anyone in Sheffield/rotherham can sell me one.

    thanks[/img] 😉

    Hi Citroen,

I’ve got a W8200PG and personally I wouldn’t try the cartridge since if the ink is different it could clog up the printhead (and you don’t want to buy one of those – pricey). I’d send it back if I were you and get them to replace/refund it.

If you’re in a pickle and need it now, I’ve got an unopened Canon PG yellow in stock and can send it to you if you want – I’m half way through ours so I’ll be ok for a little bit. I got it from IPM and it cost £95+vat (probably the same price as you get it) so if you want to cover the cost of that and the delivery (I could send it via sameday express tomorrow) then just give me a call.

    HTH! 😀

Those tabs are generally there for a very good reason, you would be gamer than i to try and stick it in…..

Printhead replacement on a W8200 is about $1200AU, we just replaced ours not long ago, easy enough job, but a costly excercise if you destroy it via misuse.

    Hi,

I have a canon w8400pg and the supplier (on ebay) gave me the wrong ink. I am stuck with a w8200pg yellow ink tank which is useless for me… if anyone out there would like to make me an offer for this ink tank to take it out my hands that would be great, the proceeds would go onto buying a yellow ink tank for the w8400pg… if anyone’s interested please give me a shout..

    James
