Does anyone know way of slowing down the cut in Artcut 2005?
Posted by P wilk on 3 August 2006 at 21:19Hi, being relatively new to cutting, I try to cut a certain vector and the blade drags the vinyl and makes it fold on the return cut. Does anyone know a way of slowing down the cut in Artcut 2005
Also, when I import a file from corel x3. The file is the correct size, and if I print it instead of cut it, its OK…. BUT on cutting, the finished item turns out some 25% smaller in both dimensions
Any ideas would be appreciated
thanks

On the pcut I have the speed is controlled on the LCD panel on the machine itself. Vinyl dragging sounds like the pressure has maxed out. the dims being off sounds like the object scale is being manipulated some place. 1 place is the setting in the control panel if the scale gos off there the cut vector can get distorted.
Cant give help for the artcut as I have WinPCsign and don’t have corel x3 yet, so cant help there.

Thanks for the reply….prob is…its a mini270 cutter with no adjustment on the main cutter; so I was hoping I could adjust with the software.
I have been cutting this evening with some sucess. I highered the blade a fraction to create less friction. It still cut efficiently for most of the graphic, with just a couple of places where i had to trim with a scalpal to be able to weed in tight spacesas for sizes… I increased to initial vector files by 24% and then exported to artcut….problem overcome, …even if its a heath robinson approach to get me by
cheers for the help

Weeding problem sounds like its probably the blade offset that’s off a touch.
Have to be blunt, but the Creation PCUT 270mm Mini cut has all the signs of being a toy/desktop hobby device. Artcut is horrible from what I know of it, I use WinPCSign only a basic (dirt basic) version but it can import ai files which is handy for me. was the cutter a eBay job cause they all seem to come with artcut and manuals written in ergish.
What you making with it for any way?

Yep, the cutter certainly came by the way of ebay. There are no proper instructions so to speak. Artcut was the only program that seemed to be able to work correctly with the cutter. I had to buy it seperately from the cutter, after the version of signgo that i have wouldn’t support the mini cutter
I only use the cutter as a hobbiest, for cutting web site stickers for a motorbike site that I co-own (got fed up of waiting for quotes that either didn’t respond or came back as phone numbers)
Its also used to cut screen names for the bikes and small graphicsAs for the blade, its not adjustable for pressure thro’ the program but will try the ofset adjustment
thanks

Hi Paul,
I have simiar issue, did you get yours working correctly? If so could you let me know how? Mine cuts up to a point then slices the vinyl as the blade goes off.
Thanks for any help

Artcut was the way to go. I managed to use the drivers from the 600mm version. The only issue is that it cuts the vectors 24% undersize so I increase the output size to 124% for the finished cut. The seller sent me some drawings of how to disable com1 and install the virtual usb port….but I’m not sure how you/I would put them up on here or how to find your contact details to be able to send them to you. Obviously I’m not happy at posting personal contact details due to the post being open to the whole web.
Maybe one of the admin could advise a way or pass my contact details to you via PM???
cheers

Hi Paul
thanks for the quick reply, I have got it working via the usb, but when I try cutting a more complex design it gets about half way through and then just goes of the page. I’m using the PCUT CTN630 driver. Thansk for your help.

If I try to cut complex designs it also goes pearshaped. I found that if I use less detail on the original vector and only increase it really where its needed such as extra nodes on the corners to give a better shape then it seems to cut ok
the cutter sometimes gives the effect that its run out of memory so I tried reducing the amount of information that it has to process
give it a try…good luck

Yep Thats what mine does appears to run out of memory. I also find it hard to set the width otherwise it ends up hitting the kill switches on either end.

I have no problems with the width. I use the same driver as you also. I use a new document in artcut with paper width 270mm and all seems ok

Got it working but it still goes pear shaped If I try anything that has to much text in it, anyone else have this issue?
