Font Id and file swap please
Posted by Mark Pack on 27 June 2006 at 22:59I need to reproduce an electricians van but he doesn’t know any of the fonts that were used. Could someone have a look at there site to try and identify the font used for the Kennedy Electrical logo. I tried to upload the logo but its an animation web logo and won’t copy or save properly.

Mark, if you are doing it for the owner of the logo, they should be able
to provide the font,Peter

Don’t recognise it. Maybe you could print a copy of it, redraw it with a marker and some tracing paper and then scan to get a decent image. Then trace. That’s what I do with lo-res web images.
(Press "Print screen" to copy the page to your clipboard, then paste into your software.)
The "Electrical" text is IMPACT

I did ask him for it but he said he didn’t have it. But he didn’t sound all there. I get all the best customers. I just thought it might be easier to do it myself.
Cheers

This might get you started.
Dave
just used ‘fax veiwer’ to look at gif & zoom in – saved the screen & vectored it.

Just for information it looks as if it is a standard font called
"Nevison Casual" -
Peter, (and genuinely I don’t want a war of words & semantics first thing in the morning) I saw NO difference in ripping a quick vector from an animated gif (that Mark was having some trouble with) and which I have absolutely no use for in a spirit of "this might get you started", and (for example) some of the very well established & respected members here regenerating multinational’s trademarks and posting them on B.O.T.W. for the rest of the world to use – or using BOTW for an image source.
Mark was commissioned by his customer to replicate the logo by any means he saw fit, ie. "guys I need a bit of help with this logo" so the issue of copyright violation is nul & void straight away as far as I was concerned IMHO.
Like somebody said to me a couple of weeks ago on the topic of downloading other peoples images –
quote :………. but if I post an image, I expect more than just the requester (is that a word) to download it. I have often downloaded stuff that was not meant for me, if only out of curiosity.
If you only want one person to benefit, then email the vector. I have done this with images that I have drawn myself, and felt were not for general use. Otherwise don’t post the image on the boards. This is a community, and if you don’t want to share with the community, don’t post.
This is just my opinion, no offense meant or intended.well conversely, "if you don’t want somebody in the community to vectorise your logo……"
C’mon, make up you mind Peter!! Or are you just on a wind-up here 😉
ps. Attached is AI of the WORD ‘Kennedy’, converted from text.

I think Peter is winding you up Dave…. 😉

Dave,
without a word war,
I was not coming from the angle you think.I have no problem with helping anyone on the boards. I was more refering to the client that Mark is doing the job for. If its just the word "kenedy" I was wonering why the client couldn’t provide it.
No offence meant 😀

I think Peter is winding you up Dave…. 😉
I kinda guessed that, but it was pre-coffee and I’m as touchy as hell in the mornings!! Hence my "are you just on a wind up…. 😉 " :lol1:
Anyway – just take my caffeine withdrawal rant as my genuine reasoning behind helping a forum member – community spirit.
And for the love of god Peter, I’m easier to wind up than a clockwork toy especially in the mornings…. 😛

Peter, dont think the client would be too impressed if he asked for Kennedy and recieved kenedy ….just a thought

Steady Dave, I can recall having the same argument over a Ballpark font a few weeks ago with a certain board member. Not as heated as this one though. And my post was wiped off the site, glad I got the info before this thread was……….
