  • ‘U’ shaped channelling suppliers?

    Good day everyone

I need some sort of channelling to apply to the front face of an Alubond sign, so that boards can be slid in to change text (if you know what I mean).

Does anyone have an idea of suppliers of this?

Thanks in advance of your help 🙂

Hi George, thanks for that link, but it’s not quite what I’m looking for, as the track has to take signs of 100mm x 400mm.

    Thanks again George

    Lorraine,
Try looking in Yellow Pages for your local non-ferrous metal stockist. There are a number of aluminium extrusions on the market which are very useful to signmakers. Usually sold in 4 metre lengths and self colour, so you may need to find a powder coat/paint sprayers as well.

Thanks Steve, as the customer does powder-coating this wont be a problem!

Like Steve – try local metal suppiers – or even shopfitters. I buy 3 & 6mm extrusions (silver anodised) for awkward sliding panel sizes. Dirt cheap too.

Normally sold as cladding / wall board extrusions for capping (J section) & joining (H section).

I’ve just had a quote for a 4m x 12mm piece of ally at £20 + vat. Is this about right? 12mm was the smallest they do.

Sound ok for a one off lorraine but 12mm what?
Give smp a ring they keep quit a few extrusions in stock, or if you dont need a lot, B&Q do ally channel in short lengths.

Hi Peter, thanks for your reply. Funnily enough, another supplier I phoned also suggested B&Q! I only need a metre.

    Cheers, Lorraine
