  • Paper Towel – what do you use?

Posted by Tim Painter on 20 June 2006 at 09:49

Just out of interest – I seem to get through quiet a bit of paper towel for wiping down etc. As we all know costs add up just curious as to if anyone has a supplier who does a good product at a reasonable price otherwise I may aswell wipe down with fivers……………………….lmao

    Cheers Tim.

we have a lint free product here called Rag-On-A-Roll or ROAR cloth.

Very good, much better than paper. Do you have something similar there?

I was lucky….a couple of years ago Viking had an offer on, where if you bought 3 boxes of paper towls you got a FREE water dispenser (the sort that takes the 19 litre tubs). It heats & chills water. As I didn’t have acces to water in the old place it was a godsend.

I’m still working my way through the first box of towels 2 years on!

You can buy them in bulk at Costco’s or Sam’s Club.
Or really, any big paper products distributor, we even have one here in little old Butler.
Great for buying dixie cups en masse for paint as well.

i bought some type of paper towel from europoint display a while back. (they are part of Paper Co) they had a great feel to them, almost soft cloth like. these too came with a free dispenser on first order. i really liked them, but… the way our staff roll the paper roll around their hand a dozen times then snap it off, wipe a little smear of a van wing then chuck the big clump of towel on the ground. i thought this would be a luxury we couldn’t afford. so i opted for a cheap type white centre feed roll. the rolls are pretty big and you get 6 rolls in a box for about £20
don’t use coloured paper towels then use chemicals on them to clean. you may find that the dye comes off them and stains the vehicle. 😕
"oh yes, we have that t-shirt too!" 😕

contra to popular belief I buy those huge white rolls double ply from a motor parts supplier about £20.00 for two, we also have some lint free on a roll but that is dear not quite as big as the white stuff. When we first started used to use kitchen roll that was dear !!!! it’s quite amazing what you learn I never buy kitchen roll now 🙄

We buy our lint-free cloth from a spray painting trade supplier. We use them regularly and i havent been particularly worried about the cost as yet. Maybe worth a shot?

I buy the blue centre feed rolls, a pack of 6 costs me £7.50, not sure if everyone cuold get them at that price but I get them off loorolls.com. His site says he sells them by the pallet but he is based near me so i get them a pack at a time. Not sure if that would be any use to anyone.

I use a paper towel called TORK (13-00-20). 260 x 350mm perforated sheets, 800 on a roll. About £28.00 for a 2 roll pack from a company called Cromwell Tools, who seem to have branches in most major towns.
