  • URGENT HELP – Gerber Edge

Posted by Neil Thompson on 18 June 2006 at 15:56

I am currently trying to use the gerber edge with colour cut, but am having major problems. When I run it through the machine, it runs for 4-6 inches then jams. I think it is a problem with the sprocket hole positions, in that they are not accurate enough, I can see this from the vinyl which is damaged around the hole where the sprocket tooth has misaligned. I am just wondering is there anyone else out there using the Gerber edge with this material who offer me some alternative advice as to what is creating my problem.

    Thanks in advance.

If the holes are wrong then it will not work, you need to send it back to your supplier.

PS is it punched for the Edge?

I have sent my first sprocketed role back to be replaced for a gerber roll, but havn’t had any more joy, it still jams. I feel that sending this new roll back will not cure my problem. I have managed to get my urgent job done however by taping the roll to an ordinary gerber vinyl roll, though it does not hold registration very well!

    Thanks for your help though!

    Regards

Neil, I was getting this problem with cast vinyl (and I believe other owners were too) since I reverted to calendered vinyl no problem. I do believe there is a tension adjustment which will also eleviate the problem, but as yet I have not found it on my machine.

If your material is thin and stretchy like cast vinyl, then that is probably the problem.

    Hope that helps

do you have a sprocket cutter? and will the material run through that ok?

If it will then maybe something wrong with the Edge.
