Posted by Rick Alexander on 13 June 2006 at 09:48hi folks,
I wonder if i may pick your brains, i have recently acquired a redsail plotter and i really need to get it running through signlab7.

I’ve just looked at the redsail site and retrieved this info:

Product Name :cutting plotterInterface: RS232
Software: Support Easycut, Artcut, Cutter Master,Flexisign,Coreldraw software
Doesn’t mention Signlab…. maybe our resident Signlab rep will be along later with a possible solution.

Try using the generic hpgl driver or a Roland driver from the Signlab list.

The chap i bought it from has sent me a flexi sign driver but i can’t find where to install it in signlab, he told me to do a search for *.csm files on the pc but all i get returned is the driver i was sent.
I’m utterly at my wits end with this thing, might be time to go buy a 2×4 and get busy with it, LOL -
you cant install a flexisign driver into signlab, signlab has its own drivers, if your cutter is not listed in the install list, as Alan says try generic driver, or check if the cadlink site has a driver you can use. I tried cadlink, but their data base seems to be down just now, so try later

Signlab doesn’t use *.csm files for plotter profiles. I’ve just searched through the Signlab directory and there is nothing there.
As Alan says – try a generic HGPL driver. You might get something, but as their own spec sheet says – not actually saying it is compatible with Signlab.

How long have you had Signlab? did you get it at the same time as the cutter? have you used Signlab with a different cutter?
Whoever you bought the Signlab from will almost certainly be able to help (assuimng it’s legit)

Looking at the spec. A Roland driver using HPGL or a Summa driver if using dmpl. Also mention it on the Cadlink infosource forum, Rod and his colleagues are quite often there.

Alan- Rick posted on CADlink InfoSource yesterday and I passed the info along to Frank for evaluation.
- I’ve let Frank know that this thread is active here, and he’ll provide more information before long.
Cheers,

I would suggest going to cadlinks website.
Goto Downloads/Plotter drivers
Chose manufactuture "CREATION"
Choose plotter "PCut DMPL series"It seems most if not all these new plotters from China are using a DMPL based system and not an HPGL based.
frank at Cadlink.

cheers guys, i’m out of the office till tomorrow but i’ll give it a shot.
My copy of signlab is 100% legitimate and i’ve used it before with a graphtec jx1000, unfortunately my graphtec died so it had to be replaced,
unfortunately the company i work for don’t really take the screen printing department too seriously so they replaced it with the cheapest cutter they could find, oh how i miss my graphtec.
