Anyone know of a decent life span carbon fibre effect Vinyl?

Hi,

Anyone know of a decent life span carbon fibre effect Vinyl? I’m looking for one that looks like the weave, not the one thats just printed squares. Someones asked me to do the bonnet of a Saxo and all I can find is 610 rolls with a lifespan of about 6 months outdoors. I need about 700mm to do the bonnet in one piece (from memory).

Dorotape do a 7 year carbon fibre vinyl- it will be pricey wherever you get it from

Hi,

Thanks for the reply! Unfortunatly that’s the one I don’t want! It’s only available in 610 and it’s just printed squares, not the weave. Doro do a woven style vinyl too, but it again is only available in 610 and has a very short lifespan.

Do you reckon I could put the short lifespan one on and cover it in say a 5 year clear, would it extend the life of the carbon fibre style vinyl?

Hi Adam

I have used Holographic vinyl for carbon effect and it looks very close to the real thing but I can`t say what width they do it in.

I phoned Holographic Vinyls just now, and they do the Carbon Fibre in 610 only! Argh! Plus, again, it’s only 6 – 12 months outdoors! I could really do with a 3 year at least!

I’ll keep searching!

Ok, I’ve found a picture of the effect I’m after, I’ll try to find a picture of the effect I don’t want! The effect I’m after is a 3d woven sort of thing.

as opposed to plain black and silver squares with no 3d look at all. I might be better off getting one of you guys to do me a printed wrap for the bonnet although I have no idea on costs etc.[/url]
