there’s a special "blockout" banner with black inlay to prevent show through of pictures

Hi Tim
Yes, they can be printed both sides.Needs special material – it has a membrane in the middle to prevent show-through. I’ve seen some from All Print Supplies (01753 696977) but I expect most suppliers have a version. Regards

As has been said, ask your supplier for a blockout material, that can be printed on both sides. Alignment is the only real issue.

Registration is your problem. We print two pieces then tape together, a lot easier than trying to get your registration correct.

Something new in SignLab is the See Through Sign Wizard, which allows you to quickly arrange two designs back-to-back for printing to clear transparent vinyl. Includes ability to print multiple underbase to prevent show through, and can introduce a custom perforation pattern as an alternative to buying perforated vinyl. - Go to the main CADlink.com page.
- Locate Products along top menu, choose SignLab.
- Along left-hand menu, click What’s NEW?
- There will be introductory text and a link for See Through Sign Wizard.

hi folks… currently in the office printing double sided.. what fun 😥 the first attempts is a learning curve but have done this now for over 5 years and it is a registration problem.. but i can get them within 5mm which is good enough for most applications.

Dave, apart from the glory of working late, what advantage does a double side have over 2 singles stuck back to back?
Time wise the latter is much quicker to produce, so eliminating the nominal cost of the extra material?Peter

lovely double siders, they are only annoying when something goes wrong on the second side but apart from that the registration is just practise ie marking the banner perfectly and getting the left hand margin to the mil, ps make sure the material is running perfectly straight otherwise you will lose the registration by quite alot

We ave found it cheaper and easier to print two seperate sides and have them stuck together, also, when printing double sided, we didnt like the idea of having to wait until one side was cured until printing the other, it all just seemed more hassle than it was worth. We had too many troubles of banner that wasnt cured properly sticking to the plattern when trying to print the second side.

well in the previous company i was in, the lamp column banners are printed double sided then stitched quite heavily, we done hundreds in different cities and this has prove itself as the strongest.
Two single sided stuck together in high-wind causes a flapping noise and can weaken over time. Also, after a while u get used to printing double sided, we dont think twice about it, we just do it.

i haven’t done many projecting banners but when we have we have done them back to back using "block out" banner from europoint.
the block out stuff is tougher and thicker than normal banner. doubled up, hemmed welded together and you have one tough banner.
lots of projecting banner systems fail due to wind load etc… by that i mean the poles bend, brackets snap or fixings come away… with this i mind, the banner must be equally as durable.ill be honest, i personally think the whole printing double sided is a bit of a pointless headache if your customer hasn’t specified it.

I gave up doing d/s banner printing moons ago. 2 x s/s and stitched together is the quickest option as far as I’m concerned.
