This is my first attempt at getting into the sign industry. I would welcome any comments/criticisms. As this was my first job and it was for a friend, I did it for cost. Can anyone tell me roughly how much they would charge for something similar.

    Hi
What is it with Scotland and Signs, seems loads of you at it, more competition for you all up there!

As good as any firsts on here. Only crit. phone numbers a bit hard to take in. I would break them up to how people read and remember them 07921 311 253. If they are full stops between the C and M you should have one after the L, and a bit more focus on the Joinery name, to say what they do.

Oh and too many font styles, sorry. I think the phone numbers, bullet points and email address could have all been the same font. (information)

Sorry I can’t help you with pricing, I think you will be told about £200 for a job like that?? But with all the competition up there now it may be only £50
    😀 😀 😀 😀

I agree with David here. Too many fonts. Looks a bit busy, and the phone numbers (as david says) need to be spaced a bit better.

Price wise, I’m sure someone will help you here

    Hi Romano!

I agree with what’s been said, especially the telephone number….. far too difficult to take in. Keep designs more simple, they usually look better without too much fuss.
As for costs … depends what the competition is like and how keen you are to get the job, what your overheads are etc etc…… but for that anywhere between £130 – £150 would be my ballpark.

I take it with a name like Romano Rossi you ain’t glaswegian! 😉

    Hi All,

Thanks for the advice so far. Keep it coming. It’s really good to get constructive (and free) criticism from professionals who have been there, seen and done it. My background is in engineering, where you work to a set design and tolerance, which is much easier in comparison as there is little or no need to be creative. Keeping it simple seems to be one of the hardest things to master.

You’re like Marcella, it’s not a Glaswegian name. It’s a kilmarnock name (with a little bit of Tuscany thrown in!)
