    Hi all.

As a follow-up from Sign Uk last week, where geoff & I went to get an idea of different printers (and meet up with you lot), we were particularly impressed with these 2 machines.

As they are so different, I wondered if you could give me your opinions, good & bad, print costs per sq.m. etc, cleaning, problems, servicing, blah blah blah. You get the idea.

I will want to print vinyl (of course), flags, banners & paper to start with.

I also would like to know peoples opinions of the (cheaper) flat-bed printers, but will start a different thread for that.

    All feedback will be appreciated,

    Regards, Lorraine

Lorraine, I looked at both very seriously, and actually verbally ordered the JV3 and extra cutter, but realised the foot print of two units in my small office/workshop would make it very crowded. I was really interested in the single footprint Roland as well, but disliked the distributor here at the time (really obnoxious). I then found a new reseller out of victoria that gave me a really good price, and the sales people were very professional, so I purchased the Roland from them. The thing that swayed me against the JV3 in the end was that the service tech had worked for HP when I had my HP 3500cp, and he was a complete dill, so that was playing on my mind too.

I think they are both very good, although I was glad I upgraded to full solvent Techinks, however the JV3 gives you several levels of ink types, that ulimately give you a better choice.

That said, never regretted my purchase. After sales support is important, and should be built into the equation when making the purchase. If your machine is down, you want to know that they will treat you as a priority, not just another consumer with a problem.

I couldn’t agree more… After sales swings it for me…

I would serious have a chat with Uniform… I wont knock there products and recent comments here about warantys inks is pretty good in my view.

JV3 is great machine… but any solvent needs to be working a good few mtrs per day for it to be a viable purchase.. if not, look at the other types of printer and the reasons for buying it.. or sub work out.

soljet pro2 ex here and would be lost with out it.
the print and cut with out reloading is a god send and the cut after lamination is a breeze when you get used to it. but if you are really busy then a seperate cutter would be nice. the new max inks are excellent and i would not dream of changing to full solvent.

solvent printable paper with any quality is very dear and yet to find a flag material that prints well. banners are a dream.
