  • Can anyone reproduce this font?

Posted by Shane Drew on 24 April 2006 at 11:44

Can anyone tell me this font? or perhaps just send me the letters in the pics as an ai or eps?

Just have to reproduce this for a client who is refurbishing his boat.

    Any help appreciated

Shane, I’ve looked but can’t find anything similar so far. Difficult without a name! the only similarity so far is the no.1 😳

    Hi Shane

This one is close(ish) – may be able to jig it about a bit.

    Cheers

Thanks for looking Lorraine, I’ve been thru all my fonts, and been scanning font sites too 👿

The sign shop that did this originaly may have been using a proprietry font in flexi or sign lab or anything else, that is the only conclusion I can come to 🙄

I’ll keep looking tho. I’ll have to vectorise it at a pinch, but the photo is on an angle, and the fonts slant around the boat, so it is not as easy as I’d like at 11pm at night 😥

Thanks Russell, appreciate your time on this.

I’ll be able to use it as a start, need to modify it a bit, but it is better than starting from scartch thats for sure

    Thanks again mate 😉

well, I’ve been to bed, had a restless sleep, but I’m up bright as a button now.

Having some issues trying to get Russells font to ‘work’ properly (read: I’m having a problem getting motivated 😳 ), so does anyone have a closer match 😕 .

I don’t have an issue with having to make this font work, just being lazy at the moment, and hoping someone else may have a similar font 😕

Someone told me it is possibly a MAC font? Not sure if he was ‘in the know’ or trying to gee me up 🙄

    Thanks for looking

I dont have either of these fonts but im sure its called Canal or Kanal (italic), its a stencil font used on Police vehicles in Spain and Germany etc.

    Hope that helps.

    Andy 😎

Couldn’t open the jpg’s to see the photo but checked my version of Flexi Sign and can find no fonts called Canel or Kanel or similar.

    good luck.

Thanks Mate, checked the Kanal font on the lynotype site, but it is not quiet right either, although it is the closest I’ve seen todate. They want $us70 per weight, and as I only need the 3 letters and 3 numbers, I’ll just bodgy something up I think.

He is away for a week or so, but I may try and talk him in to something similar when he gets back, see how I go.

Cheers, and thanks again for looking.

The 5 & the 9 look similar to GemBold, just played about with a bit.
    Still looking though. 😀
