  • Do you work on your own.. or?

Thought it would be interesting to find out what percentage of people work on their own, or in a partnership or to see how many larger companies frequent the boards.

    🙂

Yes .. would be nice to know!!??

We are a "living in sin" couple aka boyfriend/girlfriend ….. I’ll marry Steve once he’s won the lottery 😉 😛

We also have a couple of people that we call in when needed for larger jobs. But mainly its just us two.

    😀

Eight of us at the moment.

It sometimes seems like that is seven too many. This is one of those times. 🙁

I had 14 staff at one stage. Now it is mainly me, and my retired dad comes in evety day to help do my accounts and be my offsider if I need anyone. I should pay him one day 😳

When things are really hectic, my mum comes in too. I leave her any weeding coz she is so darn good at it.

If either of them have nothing to do, they come down to keep me company and have a good chin wag. Somedays I don’t get much work done because my mum makes me morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and Tea if I’m working late. For those early starts, she has been known to have breakfast ready for me too.

    I know, I know…… I get spoilt rotten.

Had one of those days John!

I reckon all of us who work on our own should rent a really big unit (preferably near to where I live) and become a big national sign company!
What a laugh 🙂 Do you think we would all get on 😕

Shane you wouldn’t have to start till 9.30 as you have further to travel!

I’m own my own too …. 🙁 Well that’s not entirely true… John is an unpaid helper! 😀 John now works from home too, he gave up his industrial unit and based his business at home. So he does a lot of my work, he generally does most of the fitting.

So I don’t know which option to vote …. can I vote twice? 😉

On my own, with help when needed from Geoff & kids, otherwise a friend, who I pay.

Geoff does all the shop fascia fitting etc. (anything involving ladders 😮 ), and helps with vehicles too large to do on my own.

Martin, actually only live 45 seconds down the road, if I’m driving, 20 minutes if I walk (I walk slow to talk to the neighbors horses … thats what I tell the wife anyways…)

The wife is not interested in the sign side unfortunately, although she likes to see a job well done.

Thought I should clarify that I do go home to eat with the wife and kids most nights, only when a job is really big, and downing tools will delay my finish. Working from a shed (albeit a big shed) on mum and dads property does have its advantages tho. As far as getting to work at 9.30…. if I’m not there by 8am, I get a call on the mobile to see why I’m late 😮

Husband & wife team here 🙂

The mrs (Gee) does all the phone stuff, marketing, customer liason, packing, sales, ordering – I do all the computer stuff, printers/laser/heat press and the weeding 🙁 etc etc

    Works pretty well.

On my own as well! Hubby puts signs up for me every now and again, but I do the rest. I’ve tried to rope him in, but he’s just not interested – says he hasn’t got the patience!
My Dad is going to retire from work in June, and I have plans to get him to help out occasionally – totally for his benefit of course – I wouldn’t want him to get bored in his retirement, would I?!

our buisness is family runned by 3 daily and escalates from time to time to 6.

my compagny is young (will reach the age of 2 soon)

i’m hoping to grow big, really big. but that’s just me. i just can’t see myself as a smalltown signmaker who works from home, always dreaming of owning a big industrial unit with application depots or something. (i can dream, can’t i?) :lol1:
