Morning Peter…
I would have thought that a total block banner should be able to be printed on the Uniform cadet and have wondered about trying it myself.
I may get some material in to give it a go and will let you know the results…that is unless someone else on the boards has already tried it..

Registration is the issue here, plus you really need to allow the banner to fully dry before printing the second side.
We print 2 pieces of material, and just back them together.

hexis produce a double sided banner material
its matt one side and gloss finish the other

Plenty of double sided bannerstock out there. As has been said, drying it is really important, and your registration for the second side is the nightmare.
I just do 2 single sided banners too. Usually offer it to the client at a cheaper rate than the d/s one, and they go for it everytime.

I’m trying to learn right now how to do double sided banners.
My first sample was off by about an inch. I think I just need to play with it some more to get it right.
It’s totally possible, if you have the time…and extra material.

Peter,
I just printed a sample double sided banner on our VersaCAMM.
I set up the material, then I took some low-tac tape and marked on the machine where the corners of the material started. After it printed one side, I flipped it over and lined it back on to my marks. I then rotated the image in my rip to print the opposite direction and printed the other side. I was only off by 3mm on one side and perfect on the other, and I think this was caused by the material I was using. I had a sample banner material that was too big for my printer so I just trimmed off a piece to print. I didn’t use a straight edge to cut this, so one edge was a little off.

p.s. make sure you don’t move your media clamps at all between printing and center your image on your material. Also make sure you mark both the length and width of the media starting point. -
Pete, just ring bannerbox, they did the double sides ones for the pavilio theatre i did, good service and good product, I’m sure dave will be able to sus it out, but in the meantime, bannerbox should be able to sort it out,
they print 2x total block banners, and then stitch or glue them back to back,

We do exactly the same, Chris. The registration problem is something that wakes me up in a cold sweat in the middle of the night.

Dickson D/Sided Banner
As described before….. marking start point etc.
Allow a bleed for soilds.
Registration never far away [however always done 3mtr ones.]
Being aware when designing the banner that it’s going to be double sided.I also turn off the heaters when printing
Cheers
