Maybe it’s old hat to some of you guys but I have found that using small badge magnets are excellent when signing a van or metal pavement signs.

Using the badge magnets which are really powerful but small and light I have found that I can save a lot of time. Simply hold the graphic in place with a couple of magnets and slide it into final position and when satisfied add a few more, (can’t move the graphic with more then four magnets fitted).

No need for tape which saves time and handy when working outside and the weather isn’t great. I have even found the magnets are great to act as the hinge instead of using application tape. The magnets being small just stick to van until you need them.

I reckon I save 30% on the time it take to do a van because I can slide the graphic to exactly where I want it without having to keep sticking / unsticking bits of app. tape.

I’m very cosmopolitan…….I use one fridge magnet with skegness on it & another shaped like a big red apple from New York 😮

Does the trick and amuses the customers :lol1:

it does work, ive seen a few folk use them. one was the vehicle wrapper on the every stand. he had the ones with the little handles, i dont know where you buy those though.
i will get round to giving it a go, but i pre-measure everything when lettering a van, so by the time my marks in place im removing the vinyl from the backing tape completely to apply anyway. if its very big graphics i would use masking tape because ide worry that magnets, allow grip and not fall off, would slide with all the movement i create when applying. well theres that and the fact if the graphics are very big they are on box vans and the like and they are normally GRP Panels 😕

good tip though dave 😀 i "think" some place like anchor magnets would do these or at least tell you where to buy them.

Could use them to hold the a4-printout on the van while placing graphics

Have been using them since the last thread on this subject. (Jan)
You have to ring them as they aren’t in there regular catalogue. Cost about £4.60 each, very strong magnets, ideal for the job. Also rubber coated bases.
