    Hi

I would recommend using something stronger, such as m20 studding, and fix into a solid beam. Is this going to be supplied in 2 sections? If so, I would advise fixings either side of the joints, as this is the weak point of the box.

If you could supply a basic idea of what the box will look like, section detail would be better, then we may come up with other ideas.

    Hope some of this helps

OFFICES NORMALLY HAVE SUSPENDED CEILINGS MATE. SO FIXINGS WOULD HAVE TO BE ABOUT 16 INCHES ABOVE THAT.

    (caps 😕 )

i did a chip shop last year. same idea and with suspended ceiling.
i created L shaped legs from 2×2 alluminium angle.
the short leg of L was fixed to the ceiling.
long leg came down and stuck out 2 foot below the suspended ceiling.
i then rivetted the light box to these legs.
the whole thing was very solid and looked pretty neat to.

    Hi Brian

I would advise using strong fixings rather than chain. How many sections will the light box be supplied to you?

Hi Brian, I think Vince is confused as to the size.. as your first post read ‘610 x 6100’.. but it’s only 610mm x 610mm if I read right.. I’m with the chain at that size no problems.

Sorry, I did not see the later size.

Thanks Dan, chains no probs at that size. Also a bit easier to fit!

How about a slimline edgelit lightbox suspended on wires – like estate agent’s have? More expensive but looks the dogs…

    Hi Brian
what about 2 round conduit lengths with screw on base plate at top and bottom you can get it in zinc or black and I think I’ve seen it in gold plated should be able to get it at city electrical then you can hide your LT cable.
    Regards
    Chris
