Another job I just completed. All done with reflective vinyl except white outline around blue colour. The crest on the side was printed on reflective vinyl and laminated.
All I can say is that working with reflective material is a bitch.
This was my test for Nikkalite material, and it gets a no-go from me. turned out to be very brittle and falls appart easy.

Agree with you about Nikkalite, need to work in a warm shop as it is very brittle.

If you want relatively cheap (good value) reflective with a good performance that does not fall apart, try the LG stuff from Vinyl Logistics. I’ve been very impressed with it.

I agree with David, only ever used LG reflective, also done a job outside with it where we put chevrons on a van, easy to work with and very flixible, lasted reaslly well!!
Remember to back it with vinyl first as we spent hours and hours trying to remove it once, it leaves the foil behind and it’s a nightmare to get off!!

The 3M 180c(?) reflective is good. The new stuff is removable now. Bit dearer but heaps easier to apply.
Nice job misko. Do you not have laws over there that restrict the use and colours on reflective material on transport vehicles?
We have laws here but most sign shops chose to ignore them anyway. It is the vehicle owner that gets in trouble anyway.

I hate reflective of any kind.
It is a good tip to first apply regular vinyl underneath, to aid in removal.
I once spent 8 hours removing ancient reflective from 2 firetruck doors.
As for laws, we put it anywhere here.
I would never try to buy cheap reflective, I only use 3M.
Factor it into the final price of the job.

Here in US I was not able to find LG stuff. It must be sold under another name if at all anyone carries it.
3M would be my choice but was looking to get something less expensive to keep the cost down. Nikkalite that I used was half price of 3M. Remember folks, I just started the business and am trying to keep my head above the water. I am still in the phase of being afraid to scare a potential client by higher price.
I got it, used it and learnt a lot.
As far as laws about reflective, I am not aware of any and even if they exist, they would not be enforced here in US.

I think the only colour we’re allowed to use here on the rear of a vehicle is red.

There are no laws regarding reflective, only guidelines, Subject has been discussed many times, for example theRAC have white reflective on the rear of their vans. Dont worry about it, I have yet to here or see evidence of a successful prosecution or MOT failure because of illegal use of reflective. (proof welcome )

we fit all the RAC vans and they do NOT have reflective white on the rear, the first 100 or so ,when they first turned orange, did have reflective white on but these were all changed within 18 months and no new ones have had it on since 1999.
The Oxford bus company was threatened with prosecution in the early nineties, but this is rare.Phil

I would still be interested if anyone has seen a reported case of prosecution though, and what the outcome was?
