Static Cling
Posted by valegraphics on 29 March 2006 at 19:04One of my regulars has asked me if can supply them with printed, static cling circles.
Problem is….. The rear has to be written on with a pen, on a paper-like surface. So info can be read from the inside, but printed on the outside. Any ideas.
I know the edge can print on s/cling but not so sure on the cadet. Solvent ink etc…. Any ideas would be appreciated. Hope this makes some sense.

Hi
either of those digi printers can print to clear static cling then back up with a white vinyl ideally mat for normal pen and suggest they use dry wipe pens if they want to keep changing written details.Kev

Thanks for the reply Kev. The rear has boxes and text to write into. I dont have a laminator so this could be a long job !!
Any ideas which product is best for the cadet ?
Some tips would be good too. I,ve not done any of these before.

I got clear sheets from Europoint and they print OK I also think you get white as well which might be an advantage to you. Others do white as well.

I print on Hexis regular static cling on my Cadet with excellent results. They also supply a digital static cling but much more expensive.

Thanks peter. I calledf europoint today to query their product. They’re ringing back tomorrow. Looks like i’ll have to print to s/cling, print same size circle (with boxes to write on) on matt white. And fit 10 at a time maybe? Not really looking forward to this job as i dont have a laminator!!
How the HELL do i price a job like this??? The circles are approx 100mm diameter.
Thanks again for the info peter.

Matt,
This may work (!!)
Print image onto clear static cling mirrored and with alignment marks.
Print rear image onto matt white with alignment marks.
Laminate clear with matt white aligning on marks accurately.
Cut out automatically on Cadet using alignment marks.
As long as the cut is based on the static cling alignment marks, any small error in the position of the white should not show.
Good luck

Thanks once again peter!! Have you tried this before ? If so how did you get on? How much would you charge peter? Sorry for the questions.

No I haven’t done this exact thing but laminating and then cutting are standard things we do. My suggestion only requires careful positioning of the white.
As far as price is concerned, this would depend on quantity, which I can’t see in your postings.
