I was just wondering if anybody has used the Epson 9600 or has upgraded to the 9800 to print 4 colour separations for screen printing.

Any info on how separations could be made on a limited budget would be gratefully appreciated

I used to separate to an A3 HP5000 laser printer using Autotype Delta laser film. The film was dipped in ‘image enhancer’ although white spirit worked ok. The film was gently warmed with a hair dryer on the glossy side and the printed image would go as black as a hat. I know this sounds a bit ‘Heath Robinson’ but it did work and I used this for positive litho plates for printers and it is black enough for screen printers as well. A3 film was about 60p a sheet.

    Dave,

Just an update from my original post,

we have just ordered the Epson 9800 & have been assured there is a compatible Fuji film that is stable enough to accurately make the separations.

I’ll keep you posted on how we get on
