Ive got to strip and reletter a couple of light boxes currently fitted with with
opal panels
im going to cover in translucent yellow, cutting out areas of text for green
and then drop trans green into it
my question is how much overlap would you add to the text to ensure no
white shows

depends on how well you can line it up mate.
1mm outline/round , delete inline and it gives you 2mm to play with, thats about the amount i do. -

terry, mean to mention, i guess it depends also on the hight of your text. if something like a large 12inch letter ide use 2mm all around. like i said, its how accurate you are able to line it up. the more outline the easier obviously, but the downside is you have a little dark outline with the overlap. that doesnt geet seen way up on a shop fascia though, but would it its an eyelevel sign or the like… sorry if this is starting to confuse things 😕 :lol1:
the one thing to remember is not to have no “real” overlap, a little shaded overlap is better than a crack of white showing/glowing around one side of a letter.

Yeh, with Rob on the variable overlap depending on size.
The other alternative is to make a feature of the gap & have a nice even white halo round the text in a size to suit.
