Hello again people, just a very quick question, we do a fair bit of neon and repairs etc, and had a customer today who wanted a neon sign producing in manchester arndale 2 metres x 1 metre, fairly straight forward, but she asked for a sheet of clear acrylic over the front away from the neon on locators, agin simple enough but would there be any issue with reflection against the acrylic enough to kind of blur the sign any? we do them in boxes for take aways etc and they are ok, was just curious if anybody has done one like this and if so did they occur any problems? thanks in advance if anybody replies 😛

i dont do them mate, but have seen lots. ive always considered this for protection. it does reflect the sun in ways but to be honest, i only see a neon sign as an evening sign, as neon can look terrible/dirty during the day but brilliant at night. the clear box/panel also gathers allot of dirt on the inside.

thanks rob, was thinking this myself as it in i a shopping mall type place so didnt know how things would reflect off it, most people we have done them for dont want anything over them unless indoors due to people touching them, but can only try and guide her in the way we think is correct but think she is certain she wants one over it, just worried you might not see it properly but thanks anyway mate 😛

    Hi Rob
The sign will be OK with an acrylic cover we’ve made them alot bigger and had no prob’s with them, customers usually prefer them covered in case of vandalism what they don’t seem to realize is acrylic is not protective we explain this on all occasions tell them that really they should use polycarbonate for protection don’t want to pay that much.
Do you Manufacture your own Neon?

Hi neonman, thanks for the response, no we use a company a stones throw from us called the neon warehouse, we simply send over what we require and fit it and provide a repair service to anyone who requires it or who is prepared to pay for it, as usually they expect the service for nothing??? why do you manufacture? where are you based? always open for suppliers as people always seem to produce different things from each other which is always a good idea to have more than one 😛
appreciate the reply on the question by the way, at the moment its just left at the quote stage which she seems happy with but you never can tell on these things 👿
