  • Help with Versacamm SP540V

I am now using our new sp540v and have need of a few answers from you good folks.
    Firstly,
When creating cut lines within coreldraw 12, versaworks wont recognise all the cut lines around an object all the time eg on a square it will sometimes only cut 3 sides
also how accurate is the ink level monitor i must have printed 50 metres of vinyl and it shows completely full cartridges
Any replies would be much appreciated.

I have the same problem in v12, so I have had to go back to 10 to do the cutting.

The ink level is pretty accurate. you’ll find the level will drop after a while, I think the increments are quiet large. depending how much ink was used, a 50m roll should not make much of a dent in the level initially.

    1) cutting only 3 of 4 lines.

2 options 1) when exporting from corel click the advanced tab and set a bleed of approx 2mm around the image. (bottom of export screen)

or in versaworks go to edit–queue a (or b whichever) preferences and inside the file format tab on the left set the eps margin to 2mm or thereabouts.

the problem occurs when the file is exported from corel or illistrator etc. the bounding box that is created around the edge of the file sometimes crops 1 of the cut lines out.

either of these settings just expand the clear area around the job and embed any cut lines better.

either of the above will fix it but dont use both as you would have too much gap between repeats.

    any probs post back.

in the next version of versaworks the ink level monitor will be more accurate and will respond to the update button.

as shane says at the moment they take a while to catch up.

best way of finding out how much ink is in carts is to print system report from the menu.

gives % of ink left in cart.

our ink levels didnt display properly from versaworks or the machine…in fact, the carts actually ran out whilst showing three quarters full on the machine. we have since had a firmware update which apparently fixes that.

I haven’t any problems with Cut contours in CorelDraw 12. But I am using ColorRIP. Roland made HUGE mistake with this software. After year of improvements this is still very crapy RIP.
Ink level measurment is not accurate. Only “Ink Out” is true. But it is measured with mechanical switch . It can’t be wrong measured.
