Brian, I have some Wurth industry cleaner in a spray can, works on glue and smells of citrus very good!

I use the citrus adhesive remover too. 3M or SCOTCH make it a good one Not cheap, but beats stinking the place up. Then a little meths to remove the residue IT leaves behind. 🙄

The Wurth stuff was recommended to me ages ago, but haven’t seen a rep for years.

i bought some recently from DoroTape

called ‘Right Off’, citrus fragrance( strong smell as well!)

comes in a mist type sqeueggy(!) bottle 1 ltr £8 5ltr £30 ish

worked well, far bettter than the ‘Tar & Glue’ remover i was using.

Stubborn glues may need 2 apps

I usually use a straight edge razor blade to remove residue on windows, then some alcohol to clean up anything left over.
The 3m Citrus based adhesive remover is good as well. People always think it is an air freshener.

Warm the vinyl first, most of the glue will come off then. I use PVC cleaner, as used to clean plastic window frames-works well.

I had to peel a take-away window covered in etched about 2 months ago. Nightmare. It wasn’t like ‘normal’ vinyl, and I bet it was cheap stuff too. Even when warmed up gently it still snapped off short. In the end I just shaved the entire window with a blade and spent the time I’d saved there cleaning the remnants of adhesive off the glass. Less frustrating!
