    Hi
Lookin’ for help (again) I have to quote for a new shop fascia (not seen it yet) that according to my customer is around 800mm x 10 to 14 mtrs long.

He says he won’t have foamfoard because it buckles when fixing it, I’ve explained that it’s meant to be hung in a frame but he’s still not keen-says he’s had a quote for Aluminium faced plywood! Anyone used this (know where to source it)? what do you do about fixing & joining?

Can anybody suggest alternative substrate? sorry don’t know what I’ll be fitting to as yet.

    Ta mucho!

Dibond is more rigid. That’s probably what the customer was thinking of.

    Hi
Thanks for this info-do you know of a supplier and/or rough cost (say per8x4 sheet)?

Sorry if this is a pain in the posterior but but I’m new to all this having spent 35 years traditional signwriting followed by an enforced break of 3 years & have only just gotten back to work so all my info is now outta date-last time I was around and working the latest thing was FOAMEX!

    Cheers then,

    JJ.

8×4 dibond or similar (3mm) will set you back about £80 colours are usually a few quid more, can be got from amari ( check for your local depot) or wm Cox as well as Europoint, it also come in larger sizes 3050 x 1500.
its good stuff to work with, dosnt need a frame but can be used with alli frame (better to add a spacer piece though )

I have used plastic stock frame from http://www.jagsignsupplies.co.uk
    to finish off with.

    Hope this helps

    Wow!
Cheers Peter-fast as well, didn’t expect reply today, excellent as I have to see my customer on Monday-not sure I can use a frame, had a quick look on site this morning & the fascia is on a very old shop and it’s far from level all the way along, at present it has plywwod cut to fit and screwed up.
I’ve used Amari so that will help may even see if I can blag a sample.

    Peter…..

Thank-you again for info on above-can I ask where you get a price of 80 quid per sheet though?

I spoke to Amari & they quoted me £166 plus vat!

Managed to download file on Dibond now, so thanks for that.

j.j. Sounds like you were quoted retail price on 3mm 4050mm x 1250mm?

You need to set up an account with them, then they let you know what discount they give on each product, ie on this size, cost approx £100 + vat

Try Sign Makers Products they were cheaper than my own plastic sheet supplier last time I used such sheet.

I think I used AluPanel from them.

JJ also what thickness are you getting for that price?

BTW the mods only approve of real photos. pop art stuff is nice, but it does scream a bit in those colours!

Just phoned STS, they sell ‘Multipanel’ – do any of you folks have any experience/comments about this?

I ask, coz I usually use Di or Reynobond, had a sheet of Leboard recently, no quibble with the thinner ali, but the coating scratches really easily.

I know that you get what you pay for, and don’t want to fall in to the same trap again.

Are you saying Lorraine that what they told me was Alupanel is in fact not ?

Don’t know, j.j., coz the girl I spoke to seemed a bit unsure of herself, asked me if I wanted single-sided, as that was 49.99.
When I asked what make it was, she had to ask someone, then said ‘multi-panel’.
Now I am really confused, BUT she is sending me a price list ASAP, so I’ll know soon enough.
