I hope someone can advise me, I have searched on the above subject but what I would like to know is this:-
Having had an offer from spandex for a second user edge later in the year, I have recently been contacted by someone who is thinking of selling a 5 year old PC600. I have first refusal.
Price is negotiable between 1and a half to two K.
My concern is that I know nothing about the machine apart from that it is thermal, expensive to run and I believe that it is a discontinued model so are parts an issue.
    I already run a graphtec CE 300.
would a PC600 be worth the purchase or should I go for the edge2?
It’s a run down on the pro’s and cons between the two that I am after really.
I hope someone can give me the benefit of their advice and experience.
    regards
    Andrew

I suppose its down to what the main work for the machine will be.
The edge will be cheaper to run and has a wider range of media available.
It is a lot faster and has backup (although expensive IMHO) from Spandex.

you dont say how much the edge will cost? but I know spandex are trying to push their new version and taking edge2 in part ex.

cons only 300mm print width, it dosnt cut, only 300 x 600dpi max.

There is certainly still a market for a lot of the stuff an edge can do,

I dont know to much about the pc 600. But quite a few others still use them.

    i had a pc600. I sold it and bought a gerber edge.

The edge has made more money than the roland would have ever done.

    cheaper running costs too.

although the roland always came in handy for resting my cup of tea on………. for that alone I miss it.

    Robert,
I was hoping to move into window stickers and short runs for specialist clubs.

I bought one second hand with a brand new head, software, loads of cartridges, refill ribbons etc. Still getting used to it, but for what I need it for, it’s great. Roland also informed me that spares for this machine are available for the foreseeable future.
