what is this type of projecting sign?
have a request in for a shop front light box and projecting sign both illuminated
i have a price in from universal from Bristol for the boxes
what is involved in the wiring up of these, there is existing cable from previous boxes as i need to contact sparky for a quote
any advise on fitting these, looks pretty straight forward i have scaffold tower
i am pricing it up for fitting by the hour at my std rate i am looking at 2 to three hours for two people would that be about right
i have passed this work on before but as its quite plus i am doing other work for customer anyway so i can take my time

it will take a sparky about 10 mins to wire it in if there is an existing feed, glad to hear your tackling it yourself it is quite easy really how large is the lightbox?

Hi george its 5mtr x 790mm and the projecting sign is approx 647 x 647
prices i have for them are £398 and £93 thats with all fittings and electrics
does that sound ok we have to apply the vinyl etcDerek

I would probably charge £875+vat for the big yin and £195+vat for the wee one

I’m glad this topic has cropped up. I do a few lightboxes and charge quite heavily for them. I’ve got £1500 before for the size you are describing. Of course, a decent translucent vinyl can push the cost up quite a bit, but it’s handy to get some feedback on what others charge so I can keep my prices reasonable.
Tip: I always offer a 6 month warranty on the tubes in the box, but I quote when fitting the cost of replacing individual tubes after that, subject to a minimum charge. It does, in my experience, prompt customers to give you a call straight away when they know the maintenance charges up front. Keep a record in your job file of the tube sizes for every lightbox you sell!

Just to add to Andy’s comments about keeping a record of tube sizes, I would also reccomend keeping a record of the shade of the tube – warm or bright etc.
We were once supplied a box with a mixture of shade & it looked horrendous when lit at night
