    Dont want to sound too thick (not even got a cutter yet) but can someone explain a few terms you all seem to use. Laminating….. I assume you laminate printed vinyl for longevity? or even gloss?. “cast” vinyl…..whats it used for and whats the difference? Frog juice……… whats is it whats it for? Sandblast……. Im assuming this is the vinyl on glass.
    Thanks

    laminating…. as you said,

    frog juice, i think this is a liquid from of lamination ?

    cast vinyl,
    just that, the vinyl is cast, as opposed to calendared vinyl, which is rolled untill it is a certain thickness, cast i considered a higher quality product,

    sandblast…. high pressure jet of sand/air (other media available for different typres of blasting, the window vinyl you’re referring to is known as etch or frosted vinyl.

    good luck ! Hugh

    I know money is always an issue, but consider buying new if you can. The reason being if you buy second hand (which I assume your e-bay purchase would be) you will not get a warranty. Decent plotters like Graphtecs rarely go wrong, but if they do, engineer’s visits are very expensive.

    Anyway, I’ve said this before but I’ll say it again: what do we think of having a glossary of commonly used terms on the site? I’ll happily contribute to definitions if I can. I’m not trying to stop new members from asking questions but I think it would be a good source of reference for people to refer back to.

    I think its a good idea too Andy ….. gives peeps a good starting point then and I dont think it will reduce the post quantity or stop people from emphasing or asking questions about a product or material etc once they actually know what it is etc?

    😀

    I’m for the glossary idea, too, gang! It also helps us yanks understand some of your more arcane terms! So who do we have to bribe to do it?

    Make sure we include stuff like:

    Skiver=Useless timewaster person

    Happy Christmas to you all, Friends!
