  Dehumidifer Query

  Hi

  After trying to solve my doming problems I have purchased a dehumidifier..18 litres..

  how long are you supposed to leave them its deffinetley pulling water out the air..

  I left it on from 6pm last night to 1am and the humidity went from 45%

  to 36% but most of the time it was at 41%

  are you supposed to leave them for days first in a closed room..(if so wont it run up a big electricity bill)

  Leave it on all the time.
  Even having people in the room will create humidity, from breathing.

  The water container will continue to fill for months probably, as it draws all the moisture from the walls, timber etc.

  Ahem…..

  I have a dehumidifier running 24/7 in my garage to stop my bikes going rusty. I don’t know about runnning costs but my electricity bills are quite reasonable.

  Run one at home and leave all the doors open and it removes moisture from the whole house. When first installed, I was suprised at the amount of water it collected. From then on I sat with my hand over my whisky glass to stop it taking that 😀

  P.S. I find it cheap to run so just leave it on.

  I do like your sense of humour Dave, always enjoy reading your posts.

  As regards running costs maybe they are cheaper to run now.
  One we have, used to use it in my old house runs at 2p per hour
  24/7 x 30 = £14.40 per mth.

  Could be worse, you could have underfloor heating we have in the
  kitchen and conservatory when on max runs at 23p per hour :worry:

  I used to live in a house that suffered from really bad condensation. We used to run a dehumidifier overnight and it would collect up to 2 litres of water EVERY night!
